Our lips pushed
the moon into submission
waxing and waning
in a cloak of night
certain of what was to rise

How might I give recompense
for kisses shed
like leaves from a tree
as normal as nature
seasons in their time

How might I gain forgiveness
for nothing wronged
a sea of sensuality
embracing the waves
foam bobbing to the shore

Our time was
what it was meant to be
and I will not bend
my bloodied knee
to beg in defense

We share a breath
a lament cast to the zephyr
heavens open wide
to our dissolutions
our worlds laid to waste
